A fire in a flat over the weekend is being treated by police as a suspected arson attack.

West Midlands Police said officers were called to a property on Mossdale Close, in the Radford area of Coventry, just before 09:00 BST on Sunday.

It added that no one was inside the property at the time and no injuries had been reported.

The force said officers were now working with the fire service to understand the circumstances around the fire.

West Midlands Fire Service said the blaze was in a first-floor flat in a two-storey block that had garages on the ground floor.

It added that neighbouring flats were checked by crews, but were not affected.
