The cement mixer overturned near the village of Wilton

  • Published

A cement mixer lorry has overturned, injuring one man and closing a major road for several hours.

The crash, which happened at about 07:45 BST on the A174 between the Greystone roundabout and Wilton, left the vehicle on its side and straddling the road.

The injured man was taken to a walk-in-centre for treatment, Cleveland Police said.

The A174 was closed soon after the crash and reopened at 12:10 BST, but a build-up of traffic remained into the afternoon.

A dispatcher at Red-Car Taxis said the crash meant it was still difficult to "get anywhere" in the area.

An ambulance and fire crew were also sent to the scene.
