Council chief stepping down after almost 21 years

The chief executive of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has announced that he will step down from the position in March next year, after almost 21 years of service.
Malcolm Burr said he would continue in his role as returning officer for na h-Eileanan an Iar until after the 2026 Scottish Parliament election.
He will also continue to serve as convener of the Electoral Management Board of Scotland.
Mr Burr said: "It is a great honour and privilege to be the comhairle's chief executive and to serve the diverse and magnificent communities of the Western Isles."
