A man has died after a car overturned during a crash in Lichfield.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said it was called to a one-car crash on the A38 near the Swinfen Interchange roundabout at 08:53 BST.

Ambulance staff began administering advanced life support on a man who was found in a critical condition, but he died at the scene.

A second man was injured and taken to hospital, West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) said.

Three ambulances and an air ambulance attended the crash.

A WMAS spokesman said: “On arrival we discovered a car that had overturned and four patients.

"One of whom, a man, was found to be in a critical condition.

"Despite their best efforts it became apparent nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

“A second man was assessed and treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to Royal Derby Hospital.

“Two further patients were assessed and discharged at the scene.”
