Castle tearoom to reopen after nearly two years

The tearoom at a popular castle is set to reopen in the summer after being closed for more than 18 months.
The permanent tearoom at Highcliffe Castle in Dorset closed in November 2022, but owners BCP Council announced it will reopen in July after new operators were found.
Portfolio Holder for Finance Mike Cox said the search for new operators had not been "as quick as we all would have liked".
Sarah Hunter of Openwide, the company appointed to run the tearoom, said she was "absolutely delighted" to have won the contract.
Openwide Ltd currently operates facilities on Bournemouth Pier, including the Pier Zip, RockReef and Key West Restaurant and Bar.
Ms Hunter said they would be looking to work with local suppliers and engage with the community in its work at the tearoom.
Built in the 1830s, Highcliffe Castle is a Grade I listed building.
Deputy Leader of BCP Council Millie Earl said it was "a treasured site of local history in a unique and beautiful setting".
"A permanent tearoom was the only thing lacking from a recent visit I made to the Castle," she added.
"I look forward to returning soon to see how this new addition has enhanced the experience available at our award-winning venue."
