A police officer has suffered a hand injury after being attacked by a man with an axe.

North Wales Police said it happened during a "routine policing matter" at 15:30 BST on Wednesday in Dwygyfylchi, Conwy county.

Roads were closed and a police cordon was in place while armed officers arrested a man inside a property in the village more than six hours later.

A 57-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding and police apologised for the "concern and disruption" caused by the operation to safely arrest the man.
