A murder investigation has begun after a man was stabbed and died.

Hertfordshire Police was called to reports of a fight between two men near Parkhouse Court in Hatfield at about 13:10 GMT.

A spokesman confirmed a man in his 20s died at the scene after sustaining multiple stab wounds.

He said no arrests had been made and extra police patrols were being carried out in the area while inquiries continued.

Det Ch Insp Nick Gardner from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire major crime unit said: "Our investigation is continuing at pace and I am urging anyone with information to please come forward.

"I appreciate the nature of this incident is concerning. We have additional patrols in the area, and if you have any concerns please do speak to our officers."
