A man from Birmingham has been arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences.

The 47-year-old was detained at an address in Alum Rock on Wednesday, following a planned operation, West Midlands Police said.

He was held on suspicion of supporting a proscribed organisation, breaching his notification requirements following imprisonment for a terrorism offence and breaching a serious crime prevention order.

Detectives were continuing to search the property, the force said earlier.

The man has been taken to a police station in the West Midlands to be questioned.
