Man arrested in Stamford murder investigation

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a 67-year-old man.

Emergency services were called to a property on Foundry Road in Stamford, Lincolnshire, just before 01:10 BST on Tuesday, after receiving a report that a man had been injured.

A man was found seriously injured in a second floor property. He was given medical treatment but died.

Lincolnshire Police said a 36-year-old local man had been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Det Insp Mel Rooke said: "As our investigation starts, our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of the victim.

"We expect officers will be at the location for the next few days. I'm sure this incident will be of concern and upset within the local community. We'll do all we can to limit any disruption."

The force appealed for anyone with information to get in touch.
