A seaside home previously owned by Billy Bragg is to be revamped with a cinema, gym and outdoor kitchen.

The Victorian property at Burton Bradstock, Dorset, was sold by the singer in March 2021.

The owners say the changes will make the property, which is next to the Seaside Boarding House and Hive Beach, more sympathetic to its surroundings.

The changes also include the demolition of an indoor pool building which will reduce the size of the five-bedroom home.

The planning agent said the revamp would be "sympathetic to the coastal environment"

Many of the previous changes were made by Bragg and his partner who bought the 25-room property in 1999.

The planning agent's submission to Dorset Council said: "The proposal will significantly improve this residence, giving it a more contemporary character, sympathetic to the coastal environment and neighbouring buildings."

Both the parish council and a neighbour supported the changes, with the parish council asking for consideration to be given to traffic during the construction phase.
