Bomb disposal experts have dealt with a suspicious package in Leicester.

Police said officers were called to the junction of Brunswick Street and Malabar Road in the St Matthews area of the city shortly before 09:00 GMT on Wednesday.

A controlled explosion was then carried out by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, officers added.

Leicestershire Police said it believed the item was a charging pack for a metal detector and that there was no wider risk to the public.
