The smoking area at a sports club has been closed due to a family of blue tits nesting in a wall-mounted ashtray.

The birds have set up home at Manor Park Outdoor Bowls Club in Malvern, Worcestershire.

Andy Hinds, committee member at the club, said: "Often when you are playing bowls you will see them flying in and out.

"It is a lovely, lovely thing... it is a great sight. Isn't nature wonderful?"

The ashtray currently has an "out of use" sign above it with writing in pen below that reads: "Blue tits nesting."
