A 35-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murder after a woman's body was found in a house.

Isobella Knight, 32, was found dead by police in Donnington Road, Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire on Friday afternoon.

Officers had been led to the property during initial inquiries into reports of a car crashing into a McDonald's restaurant.

Paul Knight, of Donnington Road in Burton Latimer, was remanded in custody at Northampton Magistrates' Court and is due to appear at Northampton Crown Court on 18 June.

A post-mortem examination found Ms Knight, known as Izzy, had died as a result of pressure being applied to her neck.

"I know news of this death will cause immense concern and distress to people in the local area, and we will be maintaining an enhanced presence over the coming days to provide reassurance and support as inquiries continue," she said.

"Our thoughts and condolences are with Izzy's family and friends at this incredibly difficult time. She was a much-loved daughter, sister and mother and the devastation caused by her death is immeasurable."
