The disappearance of two kitchen knives from an Aberdeenshire school is being investigated by police.

Pupils and bags were searched at Banchory Academy earlier this week after the knives went missing from its home economics equipment.

A letter to parents said the school was taking the incident seriously and the safety and wellbeing of everyone was the main priority.

Aberdeenshire Council said it had been reported to police as theft. Police Scotland confirmed it had received the report, and that inquiries were continuing.
