A major A-road serving Britain’s busiest container port has reopened, after closing for several hours due to a fuel spill.

Suffolk Police said, external the fuel came from a heavy goods vehicle leaving the Port of Felixstowe at about 06:00 BST.

The A14 westbound between the Dock Gate 1 and Dock Spur roundabouts remained closed "for some time" while National Highways arranged for the road to be cleaned, the force added.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area. It reopened at about 14:30, according to National Highways.
