Arrests after attempt to force boy into car

Arrests have been made after a 14-year-old boy was assaulted and attempts made to force him into a car.

The incident happened in Romsey, outside the Bishop Blaize pub on Winchester Road.

A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of common assault and taking a child and a 17-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of common assault.

Both have been released on conditional bail.

According to Hampshire Constabulary, a man in a white Ford Mondeo assaulted a 14-year-old boy, threatened him and attempted to get him into the car, which he was travelling in with a teenage boy.

The 14-year-old boy and the group that he was with ran away, and the man returned to the car and drove off.

Officers are now asking for witnesses to the incident, which happened around 14.00 GMT on Friday 20 December, to come forward.
