Jersey was damaged "quite lightly" during Storm Darragh, according to the island's minister for infrastructure.

Jersey was hit with winds of up to 76mph (122km/h) recorded out at St Catherine, resulting in 23 trees coming down.

St John Constable Andy Jehan said: "Thankfully, we got away quite lightly from what we expected, and I know that's of little consolation to those affected."

He also thanked the island's workers and volunteers who helped clear debris caused by the storm.

Experts were also checking the condition of the roof at Les Quennevais Sports Centre, which was damaged by the high winds, officials said.
