Frankenstein gothic horror experience coming to city
- Published
A gothic horror experience based on author Mary Shelley's Frankenstein is coming to Bath this summer.
The collaboration between Bristol Theatre Company, Show of Strength, and Bath's immersive attraction, Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein, will aim to give a behind-the-scenes look into the Bath author's life.
The Frankenstein Experience includes a one-hour walking tour, where guests can walk in Shelley's footsteps, before exploring the multi-sensory Frankenstein Museum.
Shelley, then named Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin, lived in Bath Abbey Churchyard from 1816-17, where she is believed to have written much of her most famous story.
Vicki Smith from the House of Frankenstein said that the partnership with Show of Strength had allowed them to craft an experience that is "theatrical, educational and thrilling".
She added: "Visitors will be captivated by the blend of history, literature and immersive storytelling.
"It’s an extraordinary way to appreciate the complexities of Mary Shelley’s work and the enduring legacy of Frankenstein.”
The Frankenstein Experience tours will run on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 31 July to 17 August, with twice daily sessions at 14:30 and 16:30 BST.
