The house was "extensively damaged" in a fire in 1997

Plans have been submitted to demolish a house partly destroyed by fire more than 25 years ago.

The property in Bilston, Wolverhampton, was damaged in a blaze in 1997.

Planning consent for the demolition of 6 Hall Park Street was first approved shortly after the fire, with the damage described as "extensive", although the plan was never realised.

A further application that would have seen the house reduced to a one-storey extension to the adjoining property was rejected by planners in January 2014.

The owners now wish to knock down the remains of number 6, and demolish an existing garage and partly demolish an extension at the back of the neighbouring property.

A statement submitted alongside the plans floats a replacement two-storey house at the number 6 plot, and a replacement extension at the neighbouring site, together with a new double garage.

“The proposed layout respects the format of the adjoining residential properties and this scheme will provide improved security for existing residents on a plot that has been a vacant eyesore for many years,” the statement said.

“Vehicle access to the site will be via existing access from Lawley Road, leading to the double garage which will accommodate both dwellings. Pedestrian access will be from Hall Park Street.

"The development will provide a replacement dwelling within a highly sustainable location that was extensively damaged by fire in the 1990s.”
