A 72-year-old has been charged with the murder of a man from South Yorkshire who went missing six years ago.

Richard Dyson, 55, disappeared in November 2019, with his remains discovered at a property on Broadcarr Road in Barnsley earlier this year.

A post-mortem examination later confirmed he died as a result of shotgun wounds, South Yorkshire Police said.

Christopher Wright, of Sheffield Road, Hoyland, has been charged with Mr Dyson's murder and is due to appear before Sheffield Magistrates' Court on Friday.

Mr Wright has also been charged with preventing the lawful and decent burial of a body as well as 27 firearms offences.

Officers said a second suspect, a 72-year-old man from Barnsley, had been rearrested on suspicion of murder on Thursday before being released on police bail.
