Two new bus routes in Brighton will help pupils travelling to school in the new academic year, the city council says.

Brighton & Hove City Council (BHCC) said changes for 2025/26 include the launch of the 94B, a new school bus service linking Whitehawk, Manor Hill and Elm Grove with Varndean School and Dorothy Stringer School.

On 28 September, the new 3X service will also be launched between Hangleton and Falmer, connecting King's School, Hove Park School, Cardinal Newman School, BHASVIC and Brighton Aldridge Community Academy.

Trevor Muten, BHCC's cabinet member for transport and city infrastructure, says limiting school run car trips reduces congestion and improves air quality.

BHCC said it had been working with Brighton and Hove Buses following recent changes to secondary school admissions arrangements.

More changes to bus routes are set to come in September with specific links to Brighton Aldridge Community Academy as well as cross-city routes.

Emma Daniel, BHCC's cabinet member for children, families and youth services, said: "Over the course of the coming academic year, we will also be reviewing any potential changes for September 2026 so that public transport options in the city reflect pupil travel patterns in line with places offered."
