Two women have been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a deliberate fire at a house in Dundee.

Several homes were evacuated after the blaze began at a property on Watson Street in Stobswell at about 01:40 on Sunday.

The two women, aged 22 and 28, were taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment.

Police Scotland said inquiries into the incident were ongoing, but the fire was being treated as "wilful".

They said two men wearing dark clothing with their hoods up were seen walking nearby at the time of the fire heading in the direction of Baxter Park.

The force asked for anyone with information or private CCTV footage of the area to come forward and share it with officers.
