Hospitals on the Isle of Man will be supported by off-island medics during this year's TT races.

The 2024 TT begins with qualifying on Monday 27 May, concluding with the Senior TT on Saturday 1 June.

Manx Care, the island's healthcare provider, said additional staff at Noble's Hospital and Ramsey Cottage Hospital will support trauma teams.

Director of health services, Oliver Radford, said the organisation aimed to "provide the highest quality care" to anyone who needed its services during the festival.

'Business as usual'

Throughout the TT races, extra doctors and nurses will provide an enhanced trauma team at Noble's Hospital.

Manx Care will be supported by colleagues at Aintree Major Trauma Centre and The Walton Centre for Neurosciences, which will provide support for patients who require urgent off-island transfer.

The plans also include the island's paramedics being supported by colleagues from the Isle of Wight, Guernsey and the Great North Air Ambulance Service.

Manx Care said that plans had been put in place to ensure that Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital would be "fully staffed", including X-ray provision, with all residents, particularly those in the north, recommended to go there for non life-threatening issues.

Oliver Radford, Manx Care’s executive director of health services said the preparation had been done to try to ensure the hospitals "maintain ‘business as usual’ services to our local population despite the additional 50,000 people on the island".

Visitors to the island have also been reminded to check they have adequate health insurance for their trip to the Isle of Man.

Manx Care has also published a brochure , externalsignposting services, available in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Polish.
