Tributes have been paid to a motorcyclist who died following a collision with a car in Huddersfield.

David Milnes, 36, from the West Yorkshire town, died in a crash just before 19:00 GMT on Saturday, police said.

His yellow Yamaha R6 collided with a silver Nissan Qashqai at the junction of Fortis Way and New Hey Road in Salendine Nook.

In a statement, Mr Milnes' family said he would be "enormously missed by all who knew him".

“David was a much loved and loving member of a large family, who are devastated," they added.

A man who was riding as a passenger on the bike at the time of the collision was badly injured. The car driver was not hurt and has been interviewed by police.

West Yorkshire Police appealed for anyone with information or dashcam footage of the incident to get in touch.
