Five held as victim named in murder investigation

A 37-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a 44-year-old woman in Gainsborough.

Police were called to a property in Wheeldon Street at 04:20 BST on Sunday where they found a woman with serious injuries.

The woman, named by police as Gillian Connelly, was taken to hospital where she died a short time later.

Two women, aged 28 and 41, and two men, aged 31 and 45, have also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

All five remained in custody for questioning on Monday, Lincolnshire Police said.

A force spokesperson said the victim's family were being supported by trained officers.
