Dogs owners are being invited to talk part in a charity "walkies" to raise money for mental health.

Guernsey Mind said the new community fundraising event would support its "vital work in mental health and wellbeing".

The charity said the first walkies event would take place on Sunday, with staggered starts from 08:30 GMT, beginning at Pembroke.

Communications and events lead Amanda Hibbs said caring for a pet could help support islanders with their wellbeing.

She said: "They get us moving, bring routine to our days, and offer the kind of loyal companionship that means so much.

"We know that getting outdoors, being active and connecting with others can all have a really positive impact on our mental health.

"Pets are great listeners who never judge - walkies is a chance to celebrate our amazing four-legged friends while also raising awareness for mental health."

Organisers said there was an option for dog owners who preferred a quieter experience to take part remotely on the same day.
