'Violent' man left woman and baby covered in blood

A "violent and manipulating" man who left a woman and her baby covered in blood after punching her has been jailed.
Macauley Nesfield, 28, from Eastfield, was sentenced at York Crown Court on Wednesday after pleading guilty to coercive controlling behaviour, assault and wounding.
He had subjected his victim to a catalogue of abuse between 2021 and 2024 leaving her terrified to tell anyone, but the incident where he punched her in the head in front of her child led her to seek help.
Nesfield was jailed for two-and-a-half years and was also issued with a restraining order for five years.
North Yorkshire Police said a number of other offences, including six counts of assault, one of intentional strangulation, and one of criminal damage, would remain on file.
Det Con Kelly Sharp said: “Nesfield is a violent and manipulating danger to women.
“The victim in this case, like most people who are subjected to domestic abuse, was too petrified to come forward to report him to the police.
“She lived in fear and was controlled and manipulated by him for many years."
Det Con Sharp said she hoped his victim could "live in peace" knowing he could no longer harm her.
“I hope the outcome of this case encourages other victims of abuse to come forward,” she added.
