Canal Christmas event takes to towpath again
- Published
A Christmas community event is returning to the only canalside stable block left in the Black Country.
The free celebration, including Christmas giant-sized decoration crafting and carols, returns to Dudley Canal on Saturday, from 16:30 GMT.
Organiser the Canal & River Trust said the event at Delph Stables is back for the third year.
The gathering has been scheduled thanks to funding from West Midlands Combined Authority's Commonwealth Games Legacy Fund.
A team from the canal charity, both employees and volunteers, have created new giant decorations each year "to make the event memorable".
Brierley Hill Musical Theatre Company will perform Christmas songs by the canal and Albion Street church is to sing Christmas carols.
Children can meet Santa and free tea and coffee will be available.
Councillor Adam Davies, for Brierley Hill & Wordsley South, who has worked with the charity on the initiative since 2022, said it is an "event for everyone to enjoy".
"The Canal & River Trust teams and volunteers have put so much effort in to make this event special, so we hope lots of people will be able to join us for this festive event," Mr Davies added.
