Firefighters are tackling a van fire in Middlesbrough town centre.

Cleveland Fire Brigade was called to Whin Street shortly before 10:00 BST.

It said the vehicle was "well alight" and one fire engine from Grangetown was in attendance.

Video taken by witnesses showed flames coming out of the vehicle and creating a large black smoke plume.

The footage captured the moment the fire service arrived and quickly began hosing down the flames.

Cleveland Police said it was alerted to the fire by CCTV operators but its officers were not required to attend.
