A motorcyclist has been airlifted to hospital and a woman arrested following a crash in the Highlands.
The man was seriously injured when his bike and a grey car collided on the A9 two miles north of Latheron in Caithness at about 09:50 on Sunday.
He was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by helicopter where he remains in a critical condition.
A woman was arrested and charged in connection with a road traffic offence, but was released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date.
Both the driver of the car and a passenger were also taken to hospital as a precaution, but were later released.
Police had closed the road for almost eight hours before it opened shortly after 17:00.
