Closure of two residential homes proposed

Two residential homes in Leicester are proposed for closure, a decision the owners say is motivated by a "changing need" for services and "financial sustainability".
Applegarth and Kathleen, both run by Vista, a charity for people with sight loss, are proposed to close on 22 September after a consultation process.
A spokesperson for Vista confirmed 37 residents would be affected over the two homes, with a total of 84 jobs lost.
They said Vista is "committed to supporting everyone through this transition", which includes the re-accommodation of all the affected residents.
In a statement, Vista said: "We have not taken this decision lightly, but we believe this is in the best interests of the growing numbers of people affected by sight loss across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
"It is hoped this strategic change will ensure the long-term sustainability of Vista’s essential services, continuing to improve the lives of people affected by sight loss today and in the future."
Vista added that it was working with resident families and allocated social workers to support re-accommodating them.
