A dead cat with an electrical cord tied around his neck has been found alongside fly-tipped rubbish.

The RSPCA has appealed for information after the cat was brought into the Castle Veterinary Clinic in Dorchester after being found by a member of the public on 7 September.

The cat was not microchipped so the charity wants to find out where he came from.

It was found in the middle of Bats Lane, close to the junction with Mallards Green in Dorset and it is thought the animal had been dead for about two days.

Patrick Bailey, who is investigating for the animal welfare charity, said: “The cat had an electrical cord tied around his neck and the vets think he was sadly killed by this cord.

“We’re really hoping to be able to locate his owner and find out how he came to be found in this state.”
