A toddler suffered “serious but not life-threatening” injuries and was taken to a specialist hospital following a crash in a village.

Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were sent to a collision in Broadlands Road, Hockley, Essex, at about 9:56 GMT on Tuesday.

The incident involved a Nissan X-Trail car, Essex Police said, and resulted in a three-year-old girl having to be taken to the Royal London Hospital for treatment.

A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "We sent Essex and Herts Air Ambulance, an ambulance and an ambulance officer vehicle. A three-year-old girl was taken to hospital by land ambulance."
