The Dorset County Show is taking place this weekend

The annual Dorset County Show returns this weekend, with tens of thousands expected to attend the event over the coming days.

The show, which dates back to 1840, features thousands of exhibits showcasing the county's food and farming sector.

Here's all you need to know for the 2025 edition.

When and where is the show?

The Dorset County Show takes place across Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th September at Dorchester Showground.

For those travelling to the show by road, there is free parking for visitors available on site at the postcode DT2 7SD.

Organisers have advised motorists, when near the site, to follow yellow road signs for public parking - which will begin a few miles out from the show itself.

Those walking to the show from Dorchester can use the Greys Bridge and Blue Bridge Footpaths.

A free shuttle bus to and from the site can also be caught from Dorchester, Poundbury and Dorchester South Station.

What can I see at the show?

The show features agricultural activities, livestock competitions and horticultural displays.

Among this years demonstrations are Paul Hannam, who brings his motorbike stunt show to the main arena, and Ben Atkinson and His Action Horses - which have featured in programmes including Peaky Blinders and Poldark.

A new music stage also launches this year, which organisers say will "showcase" local artists whilst "bringing festival feels to the tradition of the County Show".

Meanwhile, for those in search of more exotic farm animals at the show, 2025 marks only the second year that alpacas will take part in livestock competitions.

Organiser James Cox says: "There is really something for everyone at your county show."

How can I visit?

Only those with tickets can enter the show grounds.

Visitors can by advanced tickets to the show on Friday, with adults costing £23 an children £2.99. A family ticket is also available for £48.

For those wishing to buy their tickets on the gate, adults cost £25, children £5 and a family of four £56.

What is the weather going to be like?

According to BBC Weather, Saturday at the show is set to see plenty of September sun.

Highs of 19C are expected, alongside a moderate wind. With no rain forecast, the sunny conditions predicted to last all day.

Sunday will see slightly different conditions, with showers expected throughout the morning and into the afternoon.

It is expected to dry up later on, with temperatures during the day again predicted to reach 19C.
