Police are appealing for information after a car hit a pedestrian and house.

Officers said it happened on Madeley Street in Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent, at about 18:30 BST on Thursday and involved a red VW Polo.

Paramedics said the pedestrian, a woman, was in a serious condition when they arrived and was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital.

The driver of the car, a 20-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and causing serious injury, Staffordshire Police said.

Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance attended the scene, according to the ambulance service.

Police said they were keen to speak to anyone who was travelling in the area who had any information or dashcam footage that could help their investigation.
