A man has been arrested after a crash in Nottingham that left a woman in hospital.

Nottinghamshire Police said it was called at 03:25 BST to reports of a collision involving a camper van in Hucknall Road, near Nottingham City Hospital.

A woman in her 40s was removed from the vehicle and taken to hospital with serious injuries, the force added.

A 37-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Police said the man was also treated in hospital.

A section of Hucknall Road, between Valley Road and Arnold Road, was shut while investigations were carried out, but has since reopened.

Sgt Craig Luckett, of the serious collision investigation and roads policing unit, said the victim's injuries were "extremely serious" and asked for witnesses to come forward.
