Three men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after two pedestrians were struck by a van in a hit-and-run crash in Lancashire.

The Ford Transit Van hit the pair in Breck Road, Poulton-le-Fylde, shortly before 01:00 GMT.

A man aged in his 20s suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital while another man, in his 40s, received minor injuries.

Lancashire Police first arrested a 32-year-old man from Great Eccleston on suspicion of attempted murder, drink driving, drug driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

They later detained a 23-year-old man from Great Eccleston and a 24-year-old man from Blackpool on suspicion of attempted murder.

The force said the van drove away before being found and said the incident was being treated as "isolated", with no wider threat.

Det Insp Dave Little appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

"We know that the incident took place at a busy time of night, in a busy area, and there will have been people around who we may not have spoken to," he said.
