Teenager charged over Portobello beach murder bid

The incident happened at Portobello Beach in Edinburgh at around 19:40 on Friday

A 16-year-old has been charged with attempted murder after a teenager was stabbed during a large scale disturbance on Portobello beach in Edinburgh.

Police Scotland said officers were called to the scene at around 19:40 on Friday.

A 17-year-old was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.

The force said the 16-year-old suspect is due to appear before Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday.

A 14-year-old was also charged in connection with possession of a weapon.
