A murder investigation has been launched after a 23-year-old man was found dead.

Devon and Cornwall Police said officers were called to Polruan Road, Truro, at about 07:20 GMT on Wednesday after receiving a concern for welfare report at a property.

The force said a man was pronounced dead at the scene and another 23-year-old man from Truro has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody.

Police said it is believed the two men knew each other and anyone with information about the incident has been asked to contact investigating officers.

The force said a warrant of further detention had been granted, allowing officers to keep the arrested man in custody for another 36 hours.

"Currently, this is being treated as an isolated incident and we are not seeking anyone else in connection to the death," Det Sup Rachael Bentley said.

"Members of the public can expect to see a heightened police presence in the area as enquiries are ongoing."
