A man who raped a woman and sexually assaulted another after spiking their drinks at a nightclub in Fife has been jailed for nine years.

Kenan Baki drugged two women after meeting them at a venue in Kirkcaldy in September 2023.

CCTV footage showed Baki, 46, carrying one of the women into his barber shop after she lost consciousness due to being given a drug, where she was then raped.

Baki was given an extended custodial sentence alongside two years of supervision after being convicted of one charge of rape and one of sexual assault following a trial at the High Court in Edinburgh in September.

During the trial, prosecutors were shown footage of Baki searching the nightclub for lone women.

After approaching the first, he slipped an unknown substance into her drink and then sexually assaulted her while she was under the influence.

The woman was later led away from him by other revellers.

Baki then began speaking to a second woman before taking her back to his nearby barber shop.

Additional CCTV footage then showed the woman losing consciousness before he took her into the back of the shop where he raped her.

Fiona Kirkby, procurator fiscal for high court sexual offences, described his actions as "sexually-depraved and predatory".

She added: "The prosecution case showed he pursued these two women before intentionally drugging them so he could take advantage of their vulnerability.

"He has now been held accountable for this horrific behaviour, which should send a clear message to all those who seek to sexually harm others."

Baki also had his name added to the sex offenders register indefinitely and a non-harassment order was granted for an indefinite period.

Det Insp Graeme Dursley said: "Baki is a sexual predator who drugged these women so he could take advantage of them for his own sexual gratification. His actions are despicable and he now faces the consequences.

"I'd like to commend the strength of the women throughout the investigation and court process. I hope the outcome will bring them some form of justice."
