A drug dealer who carried a kitchen knife down his trousers has been jailed for two years and eight months.

Callum Schooling ran away from officers when they spotted a group of suspected drug dealers and users near a playpark in Church Street, Chesterton, in Cambridgeshire.

After a short foot chase, police said they found Schooling was in possession of a knife, a mobile phone, more than £600 in cash and five pairs of new sunglasses.

Schooling, 22, of Talbot Way in Letchworth, Hertfordshire, was sentenced at Cambridge Crown Court on Tuesday after pleading guilty to conspiracy to supply cocaine and possession of a bladed article.

Police hoped the jailing of Callum Schooling would serve "as a reminder that drug dealing is not tolerated in our county"

Neighbourhood officers said they saw a large red knife in the waistband of Schooling's trousers during the incident in June.

Officers also recovered a second mobile phone which he had discarded.

PC Will Lovell said: "This sentence reflects the serious nature of both drug dealing and carrying a weapon.

"Thanks to the team’s work, he is now off the streets. We hope this serves as a reminder that drug dealing is not tolerated in our county."
