Work will soon begin on a new commercial development in Shrewsbury, at the site of a former pitch and putt.

The site, between Oteley Road and Hazeldine Way, will see seven commercial units and 101 parking spaces, as well as EV charging.

Starbucks, KFC and Indigo Sun will occupy three of the units, while two are under offer and the remaining two are still available.

Construction will begin on 1 September, lasting 12 months. Overnight one-way closures will be in place on Hazeldine Way from 1 to 19 September, and 29 September to 8 November, from 20:00 to 06:00 BST.

Shropshire Council said the eastern side of the site had been sold to a care home operator, where there would be a 66-bed home with 25 parking spaces.

"I'm pleased that work is about to begin on the development of this site," said Roger Evans, the authority's cabinet member for finance.

"Once completed, we're confident that the site will be popular and well used and {will] help to benefit the local economy – as well as raising additional income for Shropshire Council."
