Tributes to woman, 87, after Abingdon car crash

An 87-year-old woman has died two days after she was struck by a car in Abingdon.

The crash, involving a blue Audi Q5, happened on Spring Road at the junction with Winterborne Road shortly after 12:00 BST on Thursday.

Eve Thornton, who died in hospital on Saturday, was described by her family as "caring and kind" and that she "will be forever loved and missed".

Thames Valley Police has appealed to anyone with dashcam or doorbell footage to come forward. The force said no arrests had been made.

The tribute to Ms Thornton said her death had "left a huge hole in our hearts but we are grateful for all the wonderful memories we have of her".

"Eve was the most thoughtful and generous person—you could always count on her to make time for others and put everyone else before herself," it added.

"She was so caring and kind and will be forever loved and missed. Eve had a wonderful life and we are honoured to have been part of it."
