A Shrewsbury postman has spoken of his pride after he won the "unbelievable" Postie of the Year award.

Richard Kesterton collected his prize at the inaugural Heart of Royal Mail Awards, after 25 years of service.

A Royal Mail spokesperson said the Shropshire postman had "consistently demonstrated Royal Mail's core values".

Speaking at the awards, Mr Kesterton said: "It's really special. I'm still very shocked to be named Postie of the Year."

He added: "It's unbelievable. It's been inspiring seeing everybody here today. I'm really proud."

The Royal Mail said Mr Kesterton's exceptional work as a Workplace Coach had stood out.

His role included welcoming and inducting new employees, while also providing ongoing coaching and support to existing team members.

The spokesperson added: "His efforts have not only delivered outstanding results but have also earned the admiration and recognition of senior leadership."
