Driver, 19, dies and passengers injured in two-car crash

A 19-year-old man has died in a crash between two cars near Brechin.

He was driving a Ford Fiesta that collided with a Kia Ceed on the B966 between Edzell and Inchbare at about 21:30 on Thursday.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His passengers, a 17-year-old girl, and three males aged 17, 18 and 23, were taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.

A 43-year-old woman driving the Kia and a 17-year-old boy were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Police have appealed for anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact them, external.

Sgt Mike Guild said: "Our inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this crash and I would ask anyone who was in the area at that time to get in touch."
