Station car parks to get number plate cameras

The technology is due to be rolled out over the next three months

Automatic number plate recognition technology is to be rolled out at several railway station car parks in the East Midlands.
East Midlands Railway said the ANPR technology would streamline parking for customers and remove the need for paper permits.
It will be introduced at East Midlands Parkway and Leicester later this month before being added to Derby, Market Harborough, Kettering and Wellingborough in November.
The technology will then be installed at Nottingham, Chesterfield, Loughborough in December before Lincoln's existing ANPR system is updated in January.
Customers using ANPR-enabled car parks will need to pay within 30 minutes of arriving but drop-off and pick-up zones included in ANPR areas will have a 30-minute free period
Simon Pready, commercial director at East Midlands Railway, said: "This project is an important investment in our stations.
"It will make it simpler and easier to park and begin your journey with us."
