A 17-year-old boy has died in a single-vehicle crash in a Surrey village.

Surrey Police said officers were called to Westhall Road, in Warlingham, at about 02:30 BST on Monday following reports a grey Honda Civic had crashed into a tree near the junction with the B270.

The boy was a passenger in the vehicle and died at the scene, the force said.

The driver, an 18-year-old man, was taken to hospital and treated for his injuries, which were not believed to be life-threatening.

The road was closed in both directions for several hours.

Surrey Police has appealed for information and is urging anyone who saw what happened or has any dashcam footage to get in touch.
