Former Guernsey chief minister Jonathan Le Tocq has been charged with making more than a thousand indecent images of children among other offences.
The 61-year-old faced eight charges at Guernsey's Magistrate's Court, including the creation of indecent images of children, Categories A, B and C as well as possessing extreme pornography, and offences relating to the misuse of telecommunications.
He was arrested on 21 July and released on bail.
Policy and Resources (P&R) Committee President Lindsay de Sausmarez has said she will be bring a motion to the States to remove him from the senior committee.
The charges state that a minimum of 80 indecent images of children he made were the most serious in nature and classified as Category A, with 150 Category B and 1,200 Category C images.
The politician was also charged with using four accounts on X, formerly Twitter, to send messages and images that were "of an indecent character".
In July P&R voted to stop him taking part in any committee business following his arrest, but he remains a States deputy after being elected with more than 8,000 votes in June.

Le Tocq arrived and left court in a van
Crown Advocate Chris Dunford said he expected the case to be heard by Guernsey's Royal Court.
In court Deputy Le Tocq spoke only to confirm his name and address.
The alleged offences occurred between June 2023 and July 2025.
Le Tocq has been remanded in custody.
It is expected he will return to the Magistrate's Court on 15th September to apply for bail, before the case returns to court in October.
