A young man has died after a car crash near a village in North Yorkshire.

A black Mercedes-Benz CLA 250 AMG was travelling on Greenlands Lane near Thorpe Willoughby at about 06:00 BST on Sunday when it left the road, police said.

The driver, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead after the collision, officers said, with the man's family informed.

The road was closed for several hours while recovery and investigation work was carried out, with North Yorkshire Police asking any witnesses or those with relevant dashcam footage to get in contact.
