A road in Nottingham was closed as firefighters tackled a fire in the city centre.

Crews were called to reports of a fire in Curzon Place, on the site of the former Staples store, at about 18:50 BST on Tuesday.

The road was closed between Huntingdon Street and Curzon Street.

A joint fire and police investigation is due to take place at the scene on Wednesday, a firefighter at the scene said.

The fire service said the blaze happened in "open space" outside the building.

Residents were warned to keep their windows and doors shut while the fire was extinguished.
